Your phone is now a coding machine.
Fox Open Code runs a full Ubuntu and a real AI coding agent on any Android phone. Describe what you want — it writes code, runs commands, builds APKs and ships apps. From your pocket.
An agent, not a chatbot.
It doesn't just talk — it runs a terminal, edits files, uses git, builds projects and installs the result.
Real terminal agent
Runs bash, git, compilers and tools inside Ubuntu — then shows you the diff and the result.
Full Ubuntu via PRoot
A complete Ubuntu 24.04 arm64 userland — no root, no adb, works with a locked bootloader.
Free to start
OpenCode Zen free models cost $0. Or bring your own key — any OpenAI-compatible provider.
Build & run apps
JDK 17 + Android SDK on-device. The agent compiles an APK and you install it with one tap.
Screen control
Let the agent see and tap your screen to automate real tasks — opt-in, behind a clear warning.
Private by design
Everything runs on your device. Keys are encrypted in the Android Keystore; the server is loopback-only.
Host a dev server
“Unlimited” mode keeps a chat alive so you can run and preview a web server right on your phone.
12 languages
Ukrainian, English, Hindi, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese and more — the whole UI, fully translated.
Three taps to your first build.

Install the APK
Sideload Fox Open Code. It's a single signed APK — no store account, no sign-up. How →
One-time setup
First launch downloads Ubuntu + OpenCode from their official servers, verified by sha256.
Describe your idea
Open a chat and tell the agent what to build. Watch it work — then run or install the result.
From a sentence to a running app.
Every chat is its own Ubuntu folder with its own OpenCode server. Ask a question, build a project, or spin up a server — the agent handles the terminal so you don't have to.
- It writes, runs and verifies. See the agent run your code in a real terminal and show the passing result — not just suggest it.
- Free by default, or sign in. Connect Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI, Z.ai or xAI — or just use the built-in free models at $0.
- Stop & resume any chat to free memory — your work is saved to disk and restored.

Frequently asked.
Is it really free?
Yes. The app is free and open source (MIT). It ships with free OpenCode Zen models that cost $0, and you can also connect your own provider key (Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI, Z.ai, xAI) to use your own subscription.
Does it need root or a PC?
No. Fox Open Code runs a full Ubuntu 24.04 through PRoot entirely in user space — no root, no adb, no computer. It works on phones with a locked bootloader.
Why isn't it on the Play Store?
It's distributed as a signed APK you download from this site (sideloading). That keeps it free of store restrictions and lets us ship updates directly. The app can also check for updates and offer to install the new version for you.
What are the requirements?
Android 10 (API 29) or newer, an arm64 (aarch64) CPU, about 3 GB of RAM and 3–4 GB of free storage. Android 12+ with 4 GB RAM or more is recommended. The first launch downloads Ubuntu and OpenCode over the network.
Where do my API keys and data go?
Everything stays on your device. Keys are encrypted in the Android Keystore, and the OpenCode server runs on loopback (127.0.0.1) only. There is no account and no telemetry.
How do I verify the download?
Each release lists a SHA-256 checksum above. Compare it to the hash of the file you downloaded — they must match exactly. See the install guide for how to check on your phone.
Is the source code available?
Yes — Fox Open Code is open source (MIT). The repository is on GitHub.
